Homemade Multi-grain Cereal

In Sri Lanka, multi-grain cereals are quite popular. These cereals usually include a mixture of rice, soy beans and cornmeal.

Reading the label of one such cereal brand got me thinking if I couldn't whip one of these up at home. It surely couldn't be that hard.

This is what I came up with.

I used brown rice, soy beans, mung beans, chick peas, barley, oats and horse gram.

First of all, wash all the grains and dry well. Then individually dry fry/roast all grains except oats and barley. Let cool.

Toss everything together and grind to a fine powder using a coffee grinder.

Sift through a mesh sieve.

If you find the cereal tasting raw, just dry fry the sifted powder for a minute or two.

To make the cereal, add freshly boiled hot water or hot milk and mix well. Add a bit of sugar if you like.

Let me know if there are any questions. Till next time! Ta ta!!
